Ku Bo is in the studio putting the finishing touches to his upcoming debut album which will be released on Man Rec in late September 2010. Usually being the man that provides the baddest beats for various lady vocalists, he also re-touched some amazing Cumbia stuff, namely Las Pilanderas Momposinas which any Cumbia fan knows.

We got a slight change of plan from the advertised program for today’s third issue of Man FM. Isa GT will unfortunately be in the next issue, representin’ her new release on Man Rec, but I found a more than just suitable alternative: Bene of the infamous Schlachthofbronx tells us what’s happening at the Munich bassy site of life and answers some questions that never came up before in a Schlachthofbronx interview. He also gave me a handfull of brandnew, not even got a name yet, exclusive tunes we will listen to. And as always I got my pockets brimfull with new Ghetto bass beats and tunes that inspire us! Download: Man FM 003 – Schlachthofbronx

A while ago I went to the Position Normal website and ordered the Goodly Time LP (buy it! It’s only five quid and it’s wonderful!). Position Normal’s music is difficult to describe, it is as English as a cup of tea and a buttery crumpet, and uses guitar, samples, loops and extracts that recall Britain of a bygone era. It is a sound that is deliberately lo-fi but at the same time very evocative. It is the predecessor of the sound that has been labelled “Hauntalogical” and that the label Ghost box  has gone on to develop and explore. Listen to the ASDA mix by Moon Wiring Club at TheWire.co.uk, and you can hear the influence.

I started exchanging some e-mails with the aforementioned Mr. Normal, and he showed a curiosity about our own Man Recordings, Daniel sent him some Schlachthofbronx track parts and below is the result. I like this a lot, it’s someone who is worlds away from the Man universe putting their own stamp of eccentricity on what is already a bonkers Bavarian baile pile up. vive la différence!
