Gee, this was a tough one! We received almost thirty remixes for our “Din Daa Daa” remix contest, and we got quite a few big remixes in our Dropbox. Naturally, about one forth of the contributions were Moombathon remixes, but then we also received a lot of housey reworks and a few pretty crazy ones. All in all it was great to get this great feedback, a big thank you to all remix contributors: Fed-Ant, O.live.R, HVK Remix, Hüpersonique, Laundrymix, Shantaram, DJ Smooch!, Gimmix, Sven S, Rootkitt, Nagumo, Ducks On Repeat, K.T.I.T., DJ Avatar, Hac Mac, Playground Bounce, Vidám, EJ Flores, Frederic De Varvalho, Hung Like A Horse, Chong X, Hush Hush Pony, Veit B , Keos Peet, Teazz, LA Yute and Technobears.

Some remixers immediately published their remixes which kind of spoilt the nomination procedure, nevertheless, after listening to the remix contributions all weekend, it was eventually clear who were the stand out remixers:

Boogaloo´s remix will be officially released on the “Rambazamba Remixed” compilation, out April 6th on Man Recordings!

My “Rambazamba” album will be released in a redone version in April as “Rambazamba Remixed” with remixes by Oliver $, Jan Driver, French Fries, Chrissy Murderbot, Big Dope P, Kry Wolf, El Dusty, Urbs and a handful other hot tickets.

To warm up for the “Rambazamba Remixed” release, we´re starting a remix contest today for which you can rework my version of “Din Daa Daa”, the seminal 1980s club tune by German drummer extraordinaire, George Kranz. The winning remix of the contest will be officially released on the “Rambazamba Remixed” release and will receive the “Rambazamba” double vinyl, CD and some Man Recordings extras .

The deadline for submissions is February 3rd 2012, that´s in two weeks from today.

Man Recordings sister label Highscore is releasing the second volume of The Unlimiters remixed next Monday Dec 5th. While #1 was “In Dub”, #2 is “In Club”, a remix EP where Rocksteady meets Cumbia.

The EP´s main track „HardTimes“ was remixed by Hamburg based So Shifty. Putting the song in a danceable cumbia shape, and layering a heavy moombathon beat beneath with an additional excellent synth bassline makes it a funky Latino floor skank. With this remix So Shifty created a tropical masterpiece adding their unique musical fingerprint by keeping the mood of the original song.

The second remix comes from 3ball don Erick Rincon, from Monterrey, Mexico. His remix of „Let It Go“ is blending colombian guacharacas elements and cumbia basslines with the skank rhythms by the Unlimiters and the beautiful voices of lead singers Nathan and Erika. Have a listen how Erick chopped up the saxophone and merged it with a mad synth melody.

With „Antenna Of Tallinn Remixed“ Bert On Beats returns with a big bang. The original album release, „Antenna Of Tallinn“ being considered as one of the major tropical bass albums of 2011, now gets its appropriate remix treatment.

Since the release of Bert On Beat´s debut release „Antenna Of Tallinn“, the Estonian DJ and producer extraordinaire has been busy playing out across Europe and remixing acts such as Buraka Som Sistema, Vybz Kartel, Shotta feat. Mr.Lexx or Schlachthofbronx amongst others with his unique blend of Kuduro inspired Afro beats and dubstep bass wisdom. Recently, Bert also was featured in the Hard Ass Sessions series on Enchufada.

Containing fourteen reworks, „Antenna Of Tallinn Remixed“ is a big package. Remixes come from a wide range of hot 2011 tickets such as Munchi, Daniel Haaksman, Neki Stranac or Big Dope P, upcoming talent such as Woz, Julius Sylvest, Max Le Daron, as well as established names like Flore, Diamond Bass or Raiden amongst others.

New talent kid on the block, Woz from Bristol kicks off the remix battle with his rework of „Zonin“. In best UK bass fashion Woz shapes the formerly hip hop rooted „Zonin“ into a club friendly banger. Another promising new talent is Julius Sylvest from Copenhagen, who gave „Chega Mais“ feat. MC Gi a proper Euro 3Ball fit, which would make any fan of the wild Monterrey cumbia techno sound excite. UK´s Raiden delivered the heaviest bassline science in the set of remixes with his version of „Zulu Power“ which will melt dancefloors easily. Big Dope P of French ghetto institution Moveltraxxx touched Gun Clap and made a Juke inspired remix accompanied by the frantic raps of MC Sunny. Man Recordings boss Daniel Haaksman displays his current love for Footwork with his remix for „Bone Dat“ which brings the reggae licked original banger to the dancefloors of Chi-Town (watch it, there´s no bassdrum!!). The only lady in the group of remixers, Flore of Lyon, a long time associate of Man Recordings, nails „Shika“ feat. Anbuley to the big floor with ravey synths and the irresistible voice of Anbuley from Ghana. One of the most talked about producers of 2011, Munchi also layed hands on „Bone Dat“ and created a cool Moombathon meets Dutch Bubbling remix that will smash any floor (accordingly titled „Nope This Is Ain´t Moombathon Dude“ Trap Bubbling Remix).
