Edu K`s “Popozuda Rock n´Roll” keeps parties burning across the globe and now it has been sampled by Austrian rapper Skero for a whole new song called “Kabinenparty” (”Cabin´s party”). It features our dear Joyce Muniz MC freestylin´Brasilian stylee where Edu regularly churns out a Slayer inspired guitar solo. If you´re not familiar with German, don´t worry – I also dont understand a single word of what comes out of Skero´s mouth.

We just started a new mixtape series at Man Recordings. Every two months, the series will present the mixing skills and favourite picks from artists of the Man Rec Crüe.
As every gentleman´s motto is “Ladies first”, here´s the Man Rec Mixtape #1 by our beloved Joyce Muniz: It´s full of new and unreleased tropical heat from Solo to Riva Starr, Man Rec classics re-edited, to new baile bangers and house shakers – a mix perfect to grind your sun tanned bodies at the pool. Yeahh! We smashed it last Saturday @ KVS in Brussels at the Funk Mundial release party, the Belgian edition. DJ Edgar, Joyce Muniz and myself played the big room of the municipal theater and ripped it all apart. See DJ Edgar rocking down the house (photos will follow soon). DJ Edgar, Joyce Muniz and myself will bang out Brasilian floor burners to the max – Deize Tigrona unfortunately wont perform as she caught the flu before her departure to Europe. Nevertheless, we´re going to rock it. Our host TLP – our favourite Belgian DJ right after The Glimmers – hosts the 2nd floor.

The prettiest girls of Vienna came down last Saturday to fiercly shake booty at Café Leopold in the Museumsquartier. Special guest Seiji played new remixes and his current UK funky favourites, while Joyce Muniz spanked the crowd hard with some serious Brasilian macho beats, topped with “Bambolero” from Gypsy Kings. DJ Beware shone brightly with seamless mixing everything from early 90s bogle to the latest Afro rave tunes. I dropped tracks from my new EP and was amazed to see people singing along “Subiu, Desceu” by Feadz which has become a radio hit on national radio in Austria. Big Up Vienna, you showed some big love for us again. A pity though the night had to end already at four though the club was still rammed. But we´ll be back soon!!

Today we give you the fabulous “Dança Da Heidi” by DJ Amazing Clay feat. Joyce Muniz and MC Gringo. It´s their take on the story of the Alpian girl from the 19th century, which became world famous in the 1970s with a Japanese anime series.

Haaksman is in Rio….again. He claims its for “label” business, but everytime I skype with him, he’s in a rush because he HAS to go to the beach.

Well, I wish I was in Rio too, and so does Joyce Muniz. Which is why we decided to do a mix of some of the records that we picked up from Rio when we were there last Summer. Most of the tunes in the mix are from vinyl, from the days when they still pressed up Baile Funk onto wax. Some real classics in this mix, from now defunct labels such as Pipos, Balanco, Spacelab and Explocao.

Had a great gig in Geneva last Friday at le Zoo club. Me and Joyce Muniz tore it up to a great crowd of Genevans(?) and Brazilians. Big shout out to Rico, Steff and Dj Schnausi for their wonderful hospitality. As per usual, I forgot my camera, and was only able to take one half decent photo with my iphone…

Saturday was the birthday party of my radio station, FM4. I actually almost didnt make it back in time to play there, because of a snow storm in Geneva which delayed all flights coming in and out of the airport. It was proper airport nightmare. Luckily, I did manage to make it back only 3 hours later than scheduled, just back in time to see Deichkind play a wicked set of trashy electro combined with witty lyrics and an amazingly choreographed live show that was complete with illuminated costumes. The crowd went nuts for them. Photo taken from my crappy phone cam, again…

This Sunday I’ll be off on UK tour as the support act to UK indie supergroup Mongrel. We will be hitting up many cities in the UK, so please check the dates on their site or mine and come by to the shows if you are in the area! With „Funk Mundial“, Man Recordings is starting a new vinyl series. The title is its program: Presenting a global perspective of Brazilian baile funk and giving the genre a platform in which the top voices from Brazil’s hot new sound collaborate with various producers from the northern Hemisphere.

#1 in the series is from Stereotyp from Vienna. His futuristic approach to riddim science sees another innovation in the track „Jece Valadão“. It’s a super energetic dancefloor bomb, that fuses the raw vibe of baile funk MCing with 21st century Jamaican licks, all rewinded in true Vienna stylee. Featured MC’s are Edu K, Man Recordings main MC from Porto Alegre Brazil, and the Vienna based Brazilian DJ and MC Joyce Muniz who add’s sweetness in these 6.30 mins of pure power.

Joyce also appears on the B-Side of the #1 of the „Funk Mundial“ series. For „Uepa“, Stereotyp rubbed Banghra drums into pieces, mixed ‘em up with a nasty sounding, son of a bitch of bass, and rolled it all together into a jaw dropping future riddim, to which Joyce sings over with her top voice.
