DJ PICKS #3 WILDLIFE!

Wildlife

After sizzling hot selections by Schlachthofbronx and Douster, our very popular Man Recordings archives crate selection series, DJ Picks, continues with another volume. We are proud to present that #3 is picked by longtime Man Recordings friend Wildlife! from Bern, Switzerland.

Wildlife! made his first big splash when producing Terry Lynn´s debut album “Kingstonlogic 2.0″ and has since remixed Poirier, Marina & The Diamonds, The Very Best, Beware+Motorpitch and many others. With sudden and strong support from key DJʼs all across the globe, his debut solo EP “Jumbie”, released in fall 2009, had dancefloors bubbling for well over a year. The follow up, the “Buckup” EP in 2010 is still banged out in clubs today.

Wildlife Small

In between wrapping up the final tracks for his 2012 debut full length album, crashing together British punk rock legends and Jamaicaʼs dancehall avant-garde, Wildlife! chose his favourite picks from the Man Rec back catalogue with. Naturally, they´re on the bass side of tings, featuring tracks by Ku Bo/ Stereotyp, Seiji, Bert On Beats, Big Dope P´s block rocking remix of Bert On Beats or Wildlife!´s very own classic rework of “Pororoca” by Beware + Motorpitch plus many more.

Listen to the selection below and cop ten, still damn hot tracks from the Man Rec back catalogue for just 5.99 € now!

MAN 045 BEWARE + MOTORPITCH “EL TORO” EP

MAN 045 - Beware + Motorpitch - El Toro

Man Recordings is proud to present “El Toro!/Pororoca”, the debut single release from Viennese duo DJ Beware and Motorpitch.

After a busy year of bringing out remixes and bootlegs supported by Brodinski, Crookers, Count and Sinden as well as clubbers worldwide; Man Recordings “in house DJ” Beware and partner in crime Motorpitch team up to bring you two sample driven dancefloor cuts guaranteed to make your body rock.

“El Toro!” is an imaginary meeting between a Balkan marching band and a Flamenco dancer in a Bullfighting arena. This dusty sounding, Kick and Tom driven house banger will make your heart pound and feet stomp from the beginning to the end.

“Pororoca” is named after the tidal wave that rushes up the Amazon river, this aptly named track combines the beauty of a Cumbia melody with a big bad bassline and UK funky groove.

On remix duties for this package we have Seiji, Edu K, WILDLIFE! and Zombies for Money.

The EP is released today, buy it on Beatport or Juno Download.

MERCI, SWITZERLAND!

merci-switzerland

A majority of Swiss people recently voted on prohibition of minaret construction in Switzerland, constituting a clear discrimination against members of the Muslim community in Switzerland – nervertheless the Alpian state seems to open up for tropical music.

I just returned from a three day mini Switzerland tour which led me to Zurich (Hive Club), Bern (Bonsoir) and Lucerne (Südpol). Despite archtic temperatures and tons of snow it was a great discovery that clubbers in Switzerland are increasingly supporting tropical beats.

Zurich´s Hive Club was rammed with Man Rec fans and pretty girls going mental to our recent releases – extra thanks to the Kid Bizzy + Deadcool from the Playgroundkidz for warming up and Nicci for the nice hosting.

In Bern I played for the 2nd time at Bonsoir Club, at the night of Wildlife!, a.k.a. Sami, the Swiss Jonny Depp.  Sami already had half of the Man Rec crew as guest with Edu K, DJ Beware and Joyce Muniz. I was pretty impressed by his new stuff, he banged out upcoming remixes and new heat from Wildlife!. Bonsoir Club is run by the Roundtableknights (of Made To Play fame) and a miracle place with top ranking international DJ line up every weekend. Especially considering the size of the city of Switzerland´s capital Bern (140.000 inhabitants) this club presents a mega city line up and is widely considered Switzerland´s best club.

The biggest surprise and fun on this mini tour thoughwas the Global Ghetto Anthems night at Lucerne´s Südpol hosted by the Hoodregulators. Situated in a communally supported arts + culture center called Südpol, Hoodregulators run their monthly night since more than a year and already brought people like Deize Tigrona, Toy Selectah, Tomb Crew or Schlachthofbronx to Lucerne – to a city with 60 k inhabitants merely a small place. Having educated their audience on everything global bass from Bmore to baile funk to Ghetto Tec to Euro rave, they´ve established a fanastic night with true dedication to detail: Each party sees fellow spraycan-artists work on a decoration theme, at my party they built a hydraullically (!) moveable King Kong and other giants (see photos). Needless to say, the party was a smasher with people stage diving and bootie grinding galore (see photos above). Thanks to Raphi+Marc!!
